In Southwest Georgia, a medical waste provider has to do more than serve the big hospital in town. It also has to reach the rural health clinic two counties over, the home health agency covering five counties, and the large-animal vet out on a county road. EnviCare is built for that kind of territory. We're a Southeast company headquartered at our Cartersville CareCenter, with our Thomasville CareExchange nearby and routes that cover Georgia statewide.

Southwest Georgia's Medical Center
Albany is the healthcare hub for a wide farm-country region. Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital on West Third Avenue is the flagship of the Phoebe Putney Health System and a teaching hospital and regional referral center. The Phoebe system also operates Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus and Phoebe Worth Medical Center in Sylvester.
The Albany metro also supports independent physician and specialty practices, urgent care, dialysis and surgery centers, dental offices, labs, pharmacies, nursing homes and home health and hospice agencies. Many of them are small operations, and the rules still apply to every one of them.
Small Offices and Rural Counties: Yes, the Rules Apply
A common question in Southwest Georgia is whether a small clinic really needs a medical waste service. Under Georgia EPD Rule 391-3-4-.15, facilities that generate less than 100 pounds of biomedical waste a month are only partially exempt. They still must segregate biomedical waste, contain it properly in labeled containers, and hand it off only to an authorized collector. The rule also says home health organizations and physicians treating patients at home aren't exempt just because the care happens in a house.
EnviCare sizes service to small generators. That can mean a monthly or on-call pickup, a compact sharps container, or pharmaceutical mail-back instead of a pickup for medications. For a plain-English rundown of the rule, see our Georgia medical waste services page. (This is general information, not legal advice.)

Albany Medical Waste FAQ
We generate less than 100 pounds a month. Do we need a service?
Georgia gives small generators only a partial exemption. You still need to segregate, contain and label biomedical waste and transfer it to an authorized collector. We can set up low-frequency or on-call pickup to match your volume.
Do you serve home health and hospice agencies?
Yes. Georgia's rule doesn't exempt home health organizations by default. We provide sharps containers and scheduled pickup for home health and hospice agencies, and our Client Care Team can help you set up collection at your office locations.
Do you serve veterinary clinics, including large-animal practices?
Yes. Veterinary offices are covered by the Georgia rule, and we serve small-animal, mixed and large-animal practices across Southwest Georgia.
How do we dispose of expired medications from a small clinic?
Use our pharmaceutical mail-back kits, which are for pharmaceuticals only, or add non-hazardous pharmaceutical pickup to your regular service.
