Medical Waste Disposal in Macon, GA

EnviCare service map - Georgia raised

Statewide Georgia pickup with routes covering Macon, Warner Robins and Middle Georgia.

One provider across 7 states and North Florida.

Macon sits where I-75 and I-16 meet, almost exactly in the middle of Georgia. That location makes it the referral center for much of Middle Georgia and a natural stop on EnviCare's statewide routes. Our Cartersville CareCenter, which serves as both our headquarters and our plant, is about 130 miles up I-75. From there we serve Macon-Bibb County, Warner Robins and the surrounding counties with the same scheduled pickup we run across seven Southeast states and North Florida.

Middle Georgia Healthcare at a Glance

Atrium Health Navicent The Medical Center is Middle Georgia's flagship hospital. It's a Level I trauma center and the primary academic hospital for Mercer University School of Medicine. Piedmont Macon Medical Center on Hospital Drive is the area's other full-service acute care hospital. A short drive south, Emory Hospital Warner Robins and Emory Hospital Perry (formerly Houston Healthcare) serve Houston County and the Robins Air Force Base community.

Those hospitals sit at the center of a large outpatient economy: physician groups, surgery and imaging centers, dialysis clinics, dentists, veterinarians, home health agencies, pharmacies and nursing homes from Macon to Perry. Most of them generate regulated medical waste in modest amounts every week, and they need a provider who shows up on schedule and keeps their paperwork straight.

How Service Works

  1. Tell us what you generate. Call or request a quote and describe your waste streams (biohazard, sharps, pharmaceuticals, trace chemo, paper records), your rough volume and how many locations you have.

  2. Get the right containers. We set you up with biohazard boxes or reusable containers, reusable or disposable sharps containers, and pharmaceutical, trace-chemo and shredding containers as needed. You can also order supplies through the EnviCare shop.

  3. Pick a schedule. Weekly, every other week, monthly or on call, based on how much you generate.

  4. We collect and document. Drivers pick up sealed containers and record each pickup, so you have a chain of custody when an inspector asks.

Our Services in Macon

  • Regulated medical waste: red-bag waste, contaminated PPE, dressings, tubing and other infectious waste.

  • Sharps disposal: our reusable sharps container program, or disposable containers if you prefer.

  • Pharmaceutical waste: pickup of non-hazardous pharmaceuticals, plus a pharmaceutical mail-back option.

  • Trace chemotherapy waste: for infusion centers and oncology practices.

  • Document destruction: NAID AAA certified paper shredding, large purges and cleanouts, and secure document storage.

  • E-waste and hard drives: electronics recycling and hard drive destruction with a certificate of destruction.

  • OSHA and HIPAA training: online training for your staff.

Have a hospital department, records center or multi-office group to clear out? EnviCare runs tractor trailers for large-volume jobs, not just route trucks.

Georgia Compliance Note

Georgia EPD Rule 391-3-4-.15 governs biomedical waste statewide. In practice, that means keeping it separate from regular trash at the point of generation, using red or orange bags or bags marked with the biohazard symbol, putting sharps in puncture-resistant containers, and handing waste only to an authorized collector. Our Georgia medical waste services page explains the rule in more detail. (This is general information, not legal advice.)

Macon Medical Waste FAQ

Do you serve Warner Robins and Perry too?

Yes. Houston County is part of our Middle Georgia service area, including Warner Robins, Centerville, Perry and Kathleen. Practices with offices in both Macon and Warner Robins can keep both on one account.

How far away is EnviCare?

Our Cartersville CareCenter is about 130 miles north on I-75. Macon is on our statewide Georgia route network.

What is the reusable sharps program?

It's an alternative to single-use plastic sharps containers: enrolled facilities use durable, reusable containers instead of buying and discarding disposable ones. Ask our team how the program would work at your volume.

Can we drop off old computers and hard drives?

Yes. E-waste and hard drives can be dropped off at our Cartersville CareCenter from 8 AM to 5 PM. Hard drives are destroyed by hole-punching and documented with a certificate of destruction. If the drive doesn't make sense for you, ask our team about other options when you request a quote.
