Question 1

Who regulates medical waste in Athens, GA?

Accepted Answer

The Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD), part of the Department of Natural Resources, regulates biomedical waste under Rule 391-3-4-.15, "Biomedical Waste," in Georgia's Rules for Solid Waste Management. OSHA covers workplace exposure to bloodborne pathogens, and the U.S. DOT regulates packaging and transport.

Question 3

What counts as regulated medical waste in Athens?

Accepted Answer

It depends on volume and state storage rules. EnviCare picks up weekly, every other week, monthly or on call, and sets frequency so Athens facilities stay within Georgia requirements. Every pickup gets a 24-hour email reminder.
