Laurel is a Pine Belt city, paired with nearby Hattiesburg, one of Mississippi's major medical centers. Like much of Mississippi, a large share of care in and around Laurel happens in smaller settings: rural and critical access hospitals, rural health clinics, nursing homes, physician offices and county health offices. EnviCare's own trucks run local routes across Mississippi, and Laurel's pickups run out of our Biloxi CarePoint on the Gulf Coast, with our Oxford CareExchange covering north Mississippi.

Laurel Healthcare at a Glance
Laurel's facility mix leans toward the kind of care Mississippi relies on outside the big metros:
• Hospitals, including rural and critical access hospitals, need steady regulated medical waste and sharps pickups plus survey-ready documentation.
• Rural health clinics and community health centers need pickup frequencies sized for low and variable volumes.
• Nursing homes and long-term care facilities can put pharmaceutical waste, sharps and regulated medical waste on one schedule.
Around them sit physician, specialty and urgent care practices, dental offices, veterinary clinics (including mixed and large-animal practices), dialysis centers, labs, pharmacies, funeral homes, and tattoo and body art studios. Most generate regulated medical waste and need a collector who shows up on schedule and keeps the paperwork straight.
How Service Works
• Step 1 — Tell us what you generate - Call or request a quote and describe your waste streams (biohazard, sharps, pharmaceuticals, trace chemo, paper records), your rough volume and how many locations you have.
• Step 2 — Get the right containers - We set you up with biohazard boxes or reusable containers, reusable or disposable sharps containers, and pharmaceutical, trace-chemo and shredding containers as needed. You can also order supplies through the EnviCare shop.
• Step 3 — Pick a schedule - Weekly, every other week, monthly or on call, based on how much you generate.
• Step 4 — We collect and document - Drivers pick up sealed containers and record each pickup on an electronic manifest, so you have a chain of custody when an inspector asks.

Mississippi Compliance Note
Medical waste in Mississippi falls under two state agencies. MDEQ regulates how infectious medical waste is transported, treated and disposed of under the Mississippi Solid Waste Law and the Mississippi Nonhazardous Solid Waste Management Regulations. Manifests are not required by regulation, but MDEQ recommends that generators obtain certified manifests and keep them on file. EnviCare provides an electronic manifest for every pickup.
MSDH licenses healthcare facilities. Title 15, Part 16 of the Mississippi Administrative Code includes a Regulated Medical Waste section that requires a written medical waste management plan, sharps in leak-proof rigid puncture-resistant containers, and storage limits: infectious waste (other than sharps in approved containers) generally may not be stored on site more than seven days above 38°F, or up to 90 days at or below 32°F, without MSDH approval. Our Mississippi medical waste services page has a fuller summary. (This is general information, not legal advice.)
