The Mississippi Gulf Coast packs a lot of healthcare into a narrow strip of shoreline. Trauma care, military medicine, specialty clinics and busy outpatient practices line the corridor from Bay St. Louis through Gulfport and Biloxi to Ocean Springs and Pascagoula. EnviCare serves the Coast from our Biloxi CarePoint, backed by the same Southeast network we run across seven states and North Florida from our Cartersville CareCenter in Georgia, our headquarters and plant. Coast practices are served on local Gulf Coast routes, and offices anywhere else in Mississippi are covered statewide on the same account.

Gulf Coast Healthcare at a Glance
Four anchors shape care on the Coast:
-
Memorial Hospital Gulfport on 13th Street is the flagship of Memorial Health System, a public not-for-profit system owned by the City of Gulfport and Harrison County. It is home to the Coast's only state-designated Level II trauma center.
-
Memorial Hospital Biloxi on Reynoir Street, formerly Merit Health Biloxi, joined Memorial Health System in 2025. The system also runs Memorial Hospital Stone County in Wiggins.
-
Singing River Gulfport on Community Road is a 130-bed acute care hospital with a Level III trauma emergency room, part of Singing River Health System, which also operates hospitals in Ocean Springs and Pascagoula.
-
Keesler Medical Center at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi is one of the Air Force's largest medical facilities and a joint venture partner with the VA Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System's Biloxi campus.
Beyond the hospitals, the Coast has a deep bench of outpatient care along Interstate 10, U.S. 90 and U.S. 49: physician and specialty groups, urgent care clinics, surgery and imaging centers, dialysis units, dental and veterinary practices, pharmacies, labs, home health agencies, and nursing and assisted-living communities from Bay St. Louis to Moss Point. Nearly all of them generate regulated medical waste, and storm season is a good reminder that a steady pickup schedule and clean records matter.
How Service Works
-
Step 1 — Tell us what you generate - Call or request a quote and describe your waste streams (biohazard, sharps, pharmaceuticals, trace chemo, paper records), your rough volume and how many locations you have.
-
Step 2 — Get the right containers - We set you up with biohazard boxes or reusable containers, reusable or disposable sharps containers, and pharmaceutical, trace-chemo and shredding containers as needed. You can also order supplies through the EnviCare shop.
-
Step 3 — Pick a schedule - Weekly, every other week, monthly or on call, based on how much you generate.
-
Step 4 — We collect and document - Drivers pick up sealed containers and record each pickup on an electronic manifest, so you have a chain of custody when an inspector asks.

Mississippi Compliance Note
Medical waste in Mississippi falls under two state agencies. MDEQ regulates how infectious medical waste is transported, treated and disposed of under the Mississippi Solid Waste Law and the Mississippi Nonhazardous Solid Waste Management Regulations. Manifests are not required by regulation, but MDEQ recommends that generators obtain certified manifests and keep them on file. EnviCare provides an electronic manifest for every pickup.
MSDH licenses healthcare facilities. Title 15, Part 16 of the Mississippi Administrative Code includes a Regulated Medical Waste section that requires a written medical waste management plan, sharps in leak-proof rigid puncture-resistant containers, and storage limits: infectious waste (other than sharps in approved containers) generally may not be stored on site more than seven days above 38°F, or up to 90 days at or below 32°F, without MSDH approval. Our Mississippi medical waste services page has a fuller summary. (This is general information, not legal advice.)
