Jacksonville anchors the east end of North Florida's medical corridor, with hospitals, surgery centers, clinics and long-term care facilities across Jacksonville, Jacksonville Beach, Fernandina Beach, Yulee, Macclenny and Orange Park generating biomedical waste every day. EnviCare serves North Florida from Pensacola to Jacksonville, and Jacksonville-area facilities are served from our Thomasville CareExchange on North Florida routes. We're a large regional Southeast medical waste company headquartered at our CareCenter in Cartersville, Georgia, with a fleet that runs from route trucks to tractor trailers.
Our Jacksonville coverage reaches south to Orange Park. St. Augustine and St. Johns County are not included, and neither are Gainesville, Ocala, Central Florida or South Florida.

Who We Serve in Jacksonville
• Hospitals and surgery centers need steady regulated medical waste and sharps pickups plus survey-ready documentation.
• Physician, specialty, urgent care and dental practices need pickup frequencies sized to their volume.
• Nursing homes and long-term care facilities can put pharmaceutical waste, sharps and regulated medical waste on one schedule.
Around them sit veterinary clinics, dialysis centers, labs, pharmacies, funeral homes, and tattoo and body art studios. Most generate biomedical waste and need a collector who shows up on schedule and keeps the paperwork straight.
How Service Works
• Step 1: Tell us what you generate. Call or request a quote and describe your waste streams (biohazard, sharps, pharmaceuticals, trace chemo, paper records) and your rough volume.
• Step 2: Get the right containers. We set you up with biohazard boxes or reusable containers, reusable or disposable sharps containers, and pharmaceutical, trace-chemo and shredding containers as needed. You can also order supplies through the EnviCare shop.
• Step 3: Pick a schedule. Weekly, every other week, monthly or on call, based on how much you generate and Florida's 30-day storage limit.
• Step 4: We collect and document. Drivers pick up sealed containers and record each pickup on an electronic manifest, so you have a chain of custody when an inspector asks.
• Step 5: Treatment and records. Your waste goes to a permitted treatment facility. Your manifests and certificates of destruction are available whenever you need them.

Florida Compliance Note
Florida regulates medical waste as biomedical waste. The Florida Department of Health (DOH) regulates packaging, transport, storage and treatment under section 381.0098, Florida Statutes, and Chapter 64E-16, Florida Administrative Code. Generators need an annual DOH permit unless they produce less than 25 pounds in every 30-day period. Biomedical waste can't be stored at the generating facility for more than 30 days. Generators must use a DOH-registered transporter, and registered transporters must give a receipt for each pickup.
EnviCare is a registered Florida biomedical waste transporter (Florida DOH Registration No. 7958, permit 24-64-2638413). Every pickup comes with an electronic manifest emailed as a printable PDF, which covers Florida's receipt-per-pickup requirement. We set your pickup frequency to stay inside the 30-day storage limit. Our North Florida medical waste services page has a fuller summary. (This is general information, not legal advice.)
Jacksonville Medical Waste FAQ
Do you serve all of Florida?
No. EnviCare serves North Florida only: the Panhandle, Tallahassee and the Big Bend, Lake City, and the Jacksonville area south to Orange Park. St. Augustine, St. Johns County, Gainesville, Ocala, Central Florida and South Florida are outside our service area.
Where are Jacksonville facilities served from?
Jacksonville and the surrounding communities are served from our Thomasville CareExchange on North Florida routes.
Does my office need a Florida biomedical waste generator permit?
Generators need an annual DOH permit unless they produce less than 25 pounds of biomedical waste in every 30-day period. Exempt generators still must follow the rest of Chapter 64E-16, including packaging, labeling, storage limits and using a registered transporter.
How long can we store biomedical waste before pickup?
No more than 30 days at the generating facility, starting when the first non-sharps item goes into a red bag or a sharps-only container is sealed. We schedule pickup to stay within that limit.
Can we mail in used sharps?
No. Sharps are collected through scheduled pickup, either with our reusable sharps program or with disposable containers. Our mail-back service is for pharmaceuticals only.
Where is EnviCare based?
Our headquarters and plant are at the Cartersville CareCenter in Bartow County, Georgia. Jacksonville and North Florida are served through our North Florida routes and our Thomasville CareExchange.
